Produced Landing Page and Promotional Video for “TerraXross1”, an Indoor Inspection Drone

TerraDrone develops and manufactures drones that can be used in a wide range of fields, including surveying, inspection, and logistics.

They have recently developed a new product, “TerraXross1”, a domestically produced drone for indoor inspection.

To help bring this innovative product to a wider audience—one that enables surveying and inspection in areas inaccessible to people, such as factory ducts and underground minesーTAM created a dedicated website and promotional video.

Design that conveys accessible value

The challenge in starting the project was the preconception that users had that indoor drones were expensive and difficult to operate.

Our goal was not to introduce conventional products, but to convey the experience of “ease of use beyond imagination. ”The challenge of simultaneously promoting two seemingly contradictory values—high performance in harsh environments and ease of use for anyone—through digital and video has begun.

Designing a special website where users can experience the appeal of the product

The landing website was designed to give users an intuitive understanding of the product's value, based on the concept of “Easiest. Beyond Imagination”

Using WebGL, we placed a 3D model of the drone on the website, which moves in sync with the user's scrolling, allowing them to observe the product from various angles for an interactive experience.

One particularly impressive effect is the use of wireframe graphics resembling blueprints when aircraft appear from off-screen. Precise 3D models created with Blender convey the meticulousness visually and attention to detail that goes into product design. This expression allows users to appreciate both the technical precision and sophisticated design of the product.

We also pursued the most appealing movements and coolest presentation for the 3D model. As making wireframe, we carefully considered the movements and lighting to create a presentation that would inspire admiration for the product.

Production of promotional videos that pursue realism

In the promotional video, our top priority was to give users a concrete image of how the product could be used. We needed to use realistic footage to show how the drone could fly stably in harsh environments where humans cannot enter.

Precision Storyboard Development Leveraging AI

The scenario of flying drones in places where people cannot enter, such as factories and mine shafts, was uncharted territory for the production team. Based on detailed interviews with the client, we created storyboards using AI. We carefully coordinated the image of the video before location scouting and clarified the direction of the shoot.

Selecting locations that replicate harsh environments

In order to achieve a realistic sense of the actual site, we selected locations where we could shoot scenes involving flight in complex and narrow spaces. We searched for locations with as many pipes and other obstacles as possible, and carefully selected shooting locations that would allow us to faithfully reproduce the storyboards.

The actual filming location had low ceilings and limited piping, but by using wide-angle lenses and shooting from low angles, we were able to create powerful images that closely resemble actual usage situations.

Incorporation of CG elements to enhance the environment

The dusty environment and dark atmosphere that cannot be reproduced in photography were expressed using CG. Retouching adjustments were also made to enhance the factory-like feel and darkness, resulting in images that allow users to clearly imagine the scenarios in which drones can be used.

Outcomes and value creation

The landing website features an interactive 3D experience powered by WebGL, enabling users to gain a deeper understanding of the product.

By visually showcasing the drone’s high performance and sleek design, the site successfully shifts user perception from “it looks expensive and complicated” to “I want to try to use it.”

The promotional video highlights the drone’s true value—its stable flight performance even in harsh environments—through realistic, on-location footage. This allows viewers to clearly envision real-world use cases, significantly boosting product awareness and encouraging purchase consideration.

Through a seamless integration of digital and video experiences, the message of “unimaginable simplicity” is naturally conveyed to users.

This approach effectively communicates the value of this innovative indoor inspection drone to the market.

Project review

Mr.Kabe

For this project, we set out with the goal of making our indoor drone—a product category that is not yet widely familiar—feel more accessible and commonplace.

Especially, it was lowering the perceived barriers related to flight operability and pricing, so that the product would be seen as approachable and suitable for a broad range of users.

During the creation of the landing website, we faced the delicate challenge. If the design was too elaborate, it risked making the product appear overly premium, or if too simplistic, it could seem cheap.

Striking the right balance between visual design and information architecture was therefore essential in effectively communicating the value of the product.

Throughout the project, the team engaged in close communication with us, taking the time to truly understand the product and align perspectives. They responded to revisions and additional requests with a consistently professional attitude, making this a highly meaningful and successful project.

Looking ahead, we will continue working toward our global vision of “bringing 3D solutions into everyday use through drones,” and further expand the reach of our product.

Terra Drone Corporation

Terra Drone pursues its mission of “Unlocking X Dimensions” by developing drones and providing solutions. We also focus on developing and providing an Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) system to support safe and efficient drone operations, as well as developing an air vehicle operations management system for overseas markets, thereby contributing to a wide range of industries.

Terra Drone boasts a track record of over 3,000 projects in the fields of surveying, inspection, agriculture, and flight operations management.Additionally, the UTM solutions provided through our group have been implemented in 10 countries worldwide.

These achievements have enabled us to rank among the top two industrial drone service providers in the ‘Global Drone Service Provider Rankings’ published by Drone Industry Insights every year since 2019, securing the number one position globally in 2024.

Terra Drone aims to solve societal challenges as a “global platform provider for the low-altitude economic sphere,” anticipating the widespread adoption of drones and flying cars.
